Where do you find solitude? Is it in the pages of a book, on the sands of a beach, is it within the crowds or on the desolate roads that time forgot. I always seem to be searching for the places where I hear the sounds of nature, the rolling of waves, the howl of the wind, the icicles freezing in the cold or the drops of moisture evaporating in the warmth of a hot summer day. And while I was in Northern Norway I found some on a Caribbean like Arctic beach on an island that wants to forget that time exists. This is Sommaroy, known as the Caribbean of the arctic it might also be the first place in the world to have no time at all during its summer of 24 hours of daylight.

I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in my life and eaten many cuisines, but a #Viking tavern was a first for me and it just might be the best welcome I’ve ever received. Just because I’m traveling solo doesn’t mean I have to be alone and I’ve never felt less alone at this great place. Normally I stay away from touristy places but this restaurant #Aifur was one of the funnest experiences I had in Stockholm and the food was great. I might be an honorary Viking after all.

Welcome to Stockholm!!! This is my first time visiting and I am loving it! Here are a few highlights from my first day exploring Gamla Stan the old town of Stockholm which has cobblestone streets and some great old architecture. It’s also home to the royal palace and some great shopping and places to eat, drink and get sugared up on ice cream waffles and candy. Stockholm which is divided by 14 islands is connected by more than 59 bridges! Gamla Stan is centrally located right below Stockholm’s main downtown area and is a great place to stay to check out the city. Check out my story and Story Highlights to see what I’ve been up to today! 🍭 🏨 🚶♀️

Are you headed somewhere fun for #summerbreak? I’m back in the air again with @flynorwegian to explore Stockholm! Sweden’s biggest city which is made up of 14 islands and has more than 50 bridges. I’ll be exploring the weird and whacky in Stockholm, viking pubs, art galleries, pickled herring and licorice of course! 🍭🍬 Summer travel can be stressful and expensive but Norwegian has great low cost options to dozens of destinations in Europe including Stockholm. Best of all there are direct flights from the US on their 787 Dreamliner the lowest emissions of any trans atlantic flight it also has dimmable windows and more oxygen so you’ll be refreshed and feeling your best when you arrive! I love their magazine too and if you fly them this fall you might just see a familiar face gracing one of the pages. They have more than 50 routes to Europe from the Us and Canada to these destinations London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Dublin, and Athens which would you choose? . . . . . . . #flynorwegian #visitsweden #ad

The land of the #midnightsun at the most northern lighthouse in Europe ! Let me know a which photo you like the best? Swipe right to see them all!!! ➡️➡️➡️It’s hard to describe the feeling of timelessness but that’s how I felt standing at the highest region of Europe with the sun shining brightly on my face at 1:30 in the morning. It’s a strange feeling to feel exhausted but energized, you realize the sun has such a power over us and the life on earth. the plants, flowers and berries here thrive for the short summer months under 24 hours of light and it was remarkable to see a place with such extreme conditions so abundant with life. After chasing the midnight sun for close to a week finally seeing it in all its splendor was unforgettable. If you want to experience the #MidnightSun you can visit @northernnorway from Mid May to Mid July as they experience 24 hours of daylight for about 70 days per year. Getting there is easy on @flynorwegian who has low cost and energy efficient flights from the US and Europe.

While hunting the #MidnightSun I’ve passed by incredible lakes, the crystal clear waters of deep fjords, the colorful houses of fishing villages large and small. I’ve met fisherman and Sami herders, talked to bakers and seafood makers. Experienced wind, rain and snow and the wildly unusual and endless hours of daylight in the North. The colors have been vibrant, the landscape has been breathtaking and the people have shown me passion, kindness and love. I can’t thank my great media network @impacttravelalliance , @visitnorway and @visitnorthernnorway for bringing me back to explore this country once again. . . . . . . . #noway #visitnorway #northernnorway #northcape #fjordnorway #mittnorge #ilovenorway #thebestofnorway #ig_nordnorge #landscapesofnorway #travel #adventure #photography #scandinavia #europe #igscandinavia #thebestofscandinavia #ignorway #thenorth #bucketlist #travelling #fjord #superlokal #scandinavian #lpparhfinder #natgeotravel #sonyalpha

When you think of the Arctic, vibrant colors is probably not the first thing that comes to mind, but that is just what you will find in many of the fishing villages in the North. The houses are blue, yellow and red and the boats are just as colorful, these vibrant colors match the personalities of the people that live up here to a T. It takes a special kind of person to live in a land with 24 hours of light and 24 hours of darkness, and what I have found is that the people of the North are happy, easy going, friendly , community driven people that care just as much for themselves as they do for their neighbor. They live with and off what the land can provide and have deep connections with the earth and what it provides.Loving every second of the land under the midnight sun.

Sunday Reflections from Northern Norway 🇳🇴 I could stare at the water reflecting the midnight sun for days. I just love the way the calm waters of the fjord glistened under the evening skies. Crazily enough I took this photo at 1:30 AM after sailing the Fjords with @pukkatravels in Tromsø. It’s taken me a few days to adjust to the endless hours of day but I’m loving being able to walk around in the sun at all hours of the night. . Have you seen the midnight sun ☀️?
