Hi Family. We have been quietly listening, following direction, re-organizing our operations for health and safety reasons and actively engaging where we can in the background. We are digesting, processing and trying to remain focused and calm. Much of that has to do with caring for our community and our families at home and all over the world and changing how we do things... We have been re-organizing our operations in Ghana to be able to provide medical gear for those that need it today and for those that may need it in the future. We are not the best at it but we have been actively trying to improve and working to be able to provide a support. Pictured here are the first prototypes of our re-usable face masks. They are cotton. You can slip a filter inside the masks and change out the filter and wash the mask. We are using local cotton from Ghana as well as left over off-cuts from our collections so there’s no waste. We will keep you up to date. In the meantime, If you have 1) any recommendations for the production of medical mask as well as medical clothing, please do not hesitate to email or DM as we are open to suggestions 2) if you know anyone who needs any medical gear please do not hesitate to email or DM. 3) we are down to partner, we can produce and if someone else is distributing already (in New York for example?), we can collaborate. 4) we are generally open to any ideas, the fact is that the factory is located in a country where we are still able to operate and until we can’t we are going to be of service. We want to be of service. That’s all. Feel free to get in touch with us if you have any further ideas. Please stay safe and if you are in places where you have been asked to remain home, please stay home. Please follow all the directions so we can get through this together. And we will get through this together. #fashionrising #studio189

PRESS // Studio 189 featured in @essence for our creative hairstyles that celebrated the individuality and uniqueness of each model. Ursula Stephen was the @TREsemme lead hairstylist for Studio 189. And it’s thank to TREsemme that we were able to do so many incredible styles. • “And if the hair wasn’t fun enough, the runway show to spotlight it was like a big party in Lagos, or Accra, or Bamako, or Ouagadougou. Erwiah’s West African background shined through in every way, from the prints in the clothing to the representation of the models. It’s a beautiful thing when Black hair in its natural state and any other forms it takes on can be celebrated and highlighted as aspirational beauty.” • “That’s what I love about natural hair. You can do so many cool shapes and just have fun with it. You can never get bored with creating shapes. {For this show} I’m keeping the cultural aspect of the collection with the hair, and keeping it high fashion.” Says Ursula • Visit to read the full article #TRESnyfw #studio189 #fashionrising @ursulastephen

@cynthiaerivo wears an outfit from our most recent spring collection in her BET trailer for her new “Harriet” movie where she plays Harriet Tubman. As daughters of Africa and descendants of the slave trade, tracing the journey of where we come from is very significant for us. In our most recent spring 2020 collection we used a lot of symbolism and techniques from west africa as well as from “freedom blankets” from America. We believe that the work we are doing is very much guided by something greater than us and that our ancestors are watching over us and helping to lead us on our journey. We as well strive to help lay the foundation for future generations. The outfit Cynthia is wearing has been hand-dyed and hand-woven in Burkina Faso and cut / sewn in Ghana. So many hands and so many stories are interwoven in each thread. It’s just so spectacular that we get to be a small part of this film thanks to @cynthiaerivo and thanks to the beautiful styling by @adesamuel assisted by Amirah Jones. We are so proud of you Cynthia. We are so incredibly honored. #fashionrising #studio189
