@mariannefasslerofficial, THIS DRESS represented everything I felt about tonight, it was beautiful and absolutely unforgettable.
@official_misssa Thank you for allowing me the privilege to cast a vote for who will be our queen, most of all, thank you for being deliberate about diversity. The contestants were incredible, genuine, beautiful and a fire that burned like the sun.

@audisouthafrica thank you for being such an incredible partner, my week was quite intense but you made it so much easier, I was so well tsken care of by my chaperone (who rolled in a fiery #Q8, ahem) honestly, thank you.

At times, we may feel resistance in our spaces, not because there's something wrong with you but because the culture is still yet to understand you. One thing I have learnt is that we carry millions of people with us, some are not even born yet, and the people we carry are rallying in spirit for us to exist bravely in our spaces. Someday, future generations will continue our path with a little less resistance and a little more flow in this myriad community we call society.

There are many, many different kinds of intersectional exclusions - not just black women but other women of color. Not just people of color, but people with disabilities. Immigrants. LGBTQ people. Indigenous people. If you don't have a lens that's been trained to look at how various forms of discrimination come together, you're unlikely to develop a set of policies that will be as inclusive as they need to be.- Kimberly William Crenshaw

South Africa must act urgently to end the dangers faced by people with #albinism, including colour discrimination – @UNAlbinism:
What influences our experiences, our successes and our challenges are a combination of time, place and the body we are born into. I look at some of our grandparents, some had brilliant minds, spirits that were large enough to overwhelm the universe itself. However, they were just born in bodies that were stuck in a time and place that could not recognize the wonderfulness of their existence. There are both men and women who've tried to walk our path, we may not even know some of them, and for some, their journeys had not been documented to allow them an immortalized story that could be passed on to several generations. However, we can make out their footprints on the pathway as we walk, that is, if we look deeply enough. With the incredible gems I've found in my own path, I do appreciate that what is a first generation achievement is not a first generation attempt.

James Baldwin--For nothing is fixed, forever and forever and forever, it is not fixed; the earth is always shifting, the light is always changing, the sea does not cease to grind down rock. Generations do not cease to be born, and we are responsible to them because we are the only witnesses they have.
